Fakes Can Kill

In any industry where huge amounts of money is invested in items there is a chance those items will be cheaply copied, made and sold as the real thing. Unfortunately not even the industry of Personal Protective Equipment, where items could save peoples lives, is protected from this practice.

The British Safety Industry Federation has put out a warning that counterfeit hard hats originating from Asia or the Middle East have found their way into the British market. These fake hard hats can be snapped under pressure from bare hands meaning it is doubtful that they would protect an employees head from falling objects.

If you think you may have bought a fake hard hat, examine the helmet closely for consistency of colour as well as clarity and legibility of markings. It may be worthwhile to check their durability and see if they break under pressure. If you are still unsure, give RTUK a call and we will happily help you!
